Three ways to build one long image — and how to fix seam problems yourself.

Screenshot stitching

Screenshot stitching is free: Lonto takes overlapping screenshots of the same content and joins them into one long image, duplicates removed. Saving and sharing are free too. Exports include a “Made with Lonto” footer below your content, without covering it.

Choosing screenshots

  1. All screenshots must show the same content — different parts of one chat, one article, or one post.
  2. Adjacent screenshots need overlapping content: the top of each screenshot should repeat what was visible at the bottom of the previous one. Lonto relies on that overlap to find the join; two screenshots with no overlap can't be stitched automatically.
  3. Capture in top-to-bottom order without skipping anything — content you never captured can't appear in the result.
  4. Keep the screen consistent between shots: switching pages, content that changes mid-capture, or large overlays can all affect the result.

Steps

  1. Open Lonto, choose screenshot stitching, and pick your screenshots in order.
  2. Wait for automatic de-duplication and joining to finish.
  3. Zoom in on the result and check the content and seams; if any seams are flagged, see Seam troubleshooting.
  4. Save to Photos or share. Free exports include a “Made with Lonto” footer.

A notification banner or floating control covering part of the content doesn't have to ruin the result: if another screenshot shows the same content unobstructed, Lonto uses it to fill the covered area. Filling only uses content that is actually visible in your source — nothing is invented.

Screen recording to long image

Recording conversion is for when you don't want to take screenshot after screenshot: record your scrolling with the iOS screen recorder, import the video, and pick the section to stitch. Processing and preview are free; saving or sharing the result requires Lonto Pro (a one-time purchase, no subscription).

Steps

  1. Start the iOS screen recorder, then scroll through the content yourself at a steady pace — a chat, an article, or a post — and stop recording when you're done. Lonto doesn't scroll for you and never operates other apps.
  2. Scroll smoothly: avoid fast flings and long pauses, and keep the content from changing while you record.
  3. Open Lonto, choose recording conversion, and import the video you just made.
  4. In the trim view, select the target section you want to keep — it can cover the whole video. Swiping between photos, reading the caption, and going back to the top within one post can all belong to one section; don't combine different chats or posts into a single section.
  5. Start stitching, then zoom in on the preview and check the seams.
  6. Happy with it? Save or share, and unlock Lonto Pro with a one-time purchase when prompted.

Make Long Screenshot extension

Make Long Screenshot is a Lonto Pro extension in the Photos share sheet. Buy or restore Pro in the Lonto app first, then select, stitch, and save screenshots right in Photos. Pro exports do not include the “Made with Lonto” footer.

One-time setup

  1. In Photos, select two or more screenshots.
  2. Tap Share to open the share sheet.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the action list and tap Edit Actions…
  4. Find Make Long Screenshot, turn it on, and tap Done.

Everyday use

  1. In Photos, select two or more overlapping screenshots.
  2. Tap Share and choose Make Long Screenshot from the action list.
  3. When stitching finishes inside the extension, tap Save to store the full image in Photos, then tap Done to close — no need to open the main app.

Once Pro is unlocked, the extension stitches and saves without opening the main app. The same screenshot requirements apply.

Seam troubleshooting

What is a seam to review?

A seam is where two adjacent screenshots or frames join in the long image. When the overlap is ambiguous or there isn't enough evidence to verify the join, Lonto flags it as a seam to review and hands you the result as a draft that needs review. A flagged seam only means it needs your confirmation — it isn't necessarily wrong.

Fixing seams in Adjust mode

  1. On the result page, tap the seam banner (or Adjust) to enter Adjust mode; flagged seams show handles.
  2. Drag a seam handle up or down to change how the two sides align and how much they overlap — the content below moves with it, and the total length of the output changes. As you drag, the seam snaps to likely alignment positions to help you land on the right join.
  3. When it lines up, tap ✓ to confirm the seam. Seams you've dragged or confirmed are no longer treated as seams to review.
  4. Made a mistake? Tap Undo to step back, or Restore Automatic to return to the original automatic stitching.
  5. Once every seam is confirmed, tap Done, then save or share.

Adjust mode only changes a seam's relative position and overlap — it doesn't crop content away, and it doesn't switch which side of the overlap is shown.

Still not right? Contact the developer

If the result is still wrong after adjusting — for example content is missing from your source, the screen changed mid-capture, or a seam just won't align — use the feedback entry on the result page to email us. The feedback email automatically includes a diagnostic summary of this stitching run; your screenshots are not attached automatically — add source or result images manually if you can, so we can reproduce the problem.

FAQ

Why is my result a "draft that needs review"?

It means the long image is complete, but one or more seams need your confirmation. Open the result and confirm or adjust each flagged seam — once that's done, it's no longer a draft. A finished image isn't guaranteed to be correct, so check the content and seams before saving.

How does ad removal work?

For supported article layouts, Lonto can remove identified ad blocks with clear boundaries from your source material, at your choice; exporting the cleaned result requires Lonto Pro. Uncertain areas stay intact, and content that never appeared in your source is not invented. This is content editing — Lonto can't stop other apps from showing you ads. Separately, Lonto itself shows no ads in either the free version or Pro; those are two different things.

What's free, and what needs Pro?

Screenshot stitching in the main app is free: import, stitch, save, and share with no paid quality upgrade. Free exports include a “Made with Lonto” footer below your content. Lonto Pro includes exporting recording conversions and source-ad removal results, exporting without the footer, and the Make Long Screenshot extension. Recording conversion and source-ad removal are free to process and preview; saving or sharing those results requires Pro. The extension requires Pro before use. One-time purchase, $1.99, no subscription. Source and device limits still apply after purchase.

Are my screenshots uploaded?

No. All analysis, de-duplication, and stitching happen locally on your device. Your screenshots and recordings are never uploaded to a server for processing.

Does Lonto scroll and capture automatically?

No. Whether you use screenshots or a recording, browsing and scrolling are always done by you. Lonto only takes the overlapping frames you provide and joins them into one long image.

How do I restore Pro on a new phone?

In Lonto's Settings, tap Restore Purchase with the same Apple Account to unlock Pro again.
